MY INTERPRETATION of ‘The OLD MAN AND THE SEA’
EARNEST HEMINGWAY
The old man and sea tells about story of Santiago. Who alone in his small boat faces the most difficult fight of his life against an enormous Marlin? Hemingway tells about the luck in this novel .whom Santiago has gone eighty-four days without catching a remarkable fish. And the entire fisherman says that Santiago is unlucky. The boy Mandolin, lived with Santiago and the boy parents forbids Manolinfrom going out with Santiago. At end of the story, Mandolin decides to disobey his father love for Santiago is still respect by some because of his age and pursuance. Santiago loves baseball and gambles. Santiago is not religious person but he think about meaning of life. His religious reference shows that he is very familiar with Roman Catholic saints and prayers. Santiago was old but he was strong. Santiago is as loving, patient, and brave man. Santiago closest friend mandolin realize that he can learn thing from the old man that he can not learn at home .Middle in the sea Santiago struggles hold onto the fish, without the help of the Manolin. Santiago knows that either he or the fish will die from this. At the end of the novel Santiago comes from the sea with skiff and he was sleep in his small shack and see the dream lion of the beach.
Thus Santiago is a very important person in the novel ‘The old man and sea.
